Alternative Handling Technologies, LLC was founded in 2002 by Bob Hutson in Baltimore Maryland. Originally working in conjunction with Remstar International (now Kardex Remstar) AHT focused almost entirely on small parts storage and picking solutions in Maryland and Virginia. AHT was the first distributor to make Remstar solutions the foundation of its business.
AHT’s unique approach to solving parts storage problems helped AHT to become Remstar’s fastest growing and most successful distributor in North America. Along the way, AHT expanded the solutions offerings to include products and services that complemented the Remstar product line.
In 2006, AHT acquired a Vertical Storage Systems (VSS) based in Houston Texas, founded by David Brown. VSS was equally successful using a similar approach as AHT in the Gulf Region of Texas. As the target markets were evolving, it made sense for the two companies to join forces to create a stronger organization that provided more comprehensive expanded services.
In 2012, AHT acquired the Kardex Remstar Sales and Service organization based in Cornelius North Carolina to form AHT Services Group. This further expanded AHT’s products and services into 9 states.
Today, AHT is the largest provider of Kardex Remstar solutions in North America. With over 30 employees in 9 states, AHT provides more comprehensive storage solutions in many market segments including manufacturing, distribution, automotive distributors and healthcare service providers.
